To keep you updated on our journey, our work in our three schools, and with our virtual school platform, we’re bringing you the next edition of our Education in Action series! We hope that through this series, you get acquainted with our students, as they share their dreams, their favorite parts about school, and how NARA Education is helping them think creatively, independently, and empowering them to take action.
By seeing how our students have become empowered by education, you can see the direct benefits of our work. Some never had access to technology or even realized that they could pursue passions and interests until they attended a NARA Education school and their worldview expanded.
The next student who couldn’t wait to share how much he loves school is Fateh. He is in the second grade in our Multan campus, loves math, but also loves nature. He was very enthusiastic when talking about how much he loves plants and animals. Our goal of using education to end poverty can only be realistic when we encourage and nurture our students’ passions. That way, they will get curious and enthusiastic about learning and taking their education into their own hands.

What is Your Favorite Part of the School Day?
“I like Math class because I love solving sums.”
Now that’s something you don’t hear every day! Even when children enjoy school, most of the time, they don’t love or struggle with math. It’s great to know the variety of subjects that our children are passionate about so that we can foster that interest through creative curriculums and in extra-curricular activities.
Solving problems and making games using math is also a goal of our virtual schooling platform, to use technology for education to present harder to access subjects as fun and rewarding.
What is the Most Exciting Thing You’ve Learned This Year?
“I learned about plants and how they grow.”
Learning about plants and nature is very important in this digital age, especially since kids are surrounded by urban environments and screens, making nature less of an everyday presence in their lives. Getting kids excited about how plants grow is a great way for them to develop a healthy relationship with nature which is helpful for the future.
Now that it seems like we are further away from actual plants than ever before, we can still learn about them digitally, and use AI technology for education to introduce them to kids. This way they can even learn about plants through technology that don’t grow close to them or that they wouldn’t ever have access to.
What is Something You Want to Learn More About?
“I want to learn more about plants.”
A main reason that we promote bringing a good education to children is precisely that Fateh would not have gotten introduced to or interested in plants at all if it weren’t for school. And now that is what he is most interested in learning more about.
When children follow their passions, they are empowered by education and will seek out new ways to learn on their own, gathering skills they would not have otherwise been able to develop. For Fateh, it may start with learning more about plants, but then he will map the curiosity and research skills onto another topic and another and another. Before we know it, he will be researching how to use plants for sustainable and abundant food practices, and that is how we can use education to end poverty.
If You Could Be an Animal, Which One Would You Pick?
“I would be a cat because it is cute.”
Isn’t it great that just like Anaya, Fateh would like to be a cat? This shows the significant role that creative play plays in schooling. Through play and taking on the characteristics of a cat, he can gain a new perspective and get his creativity flowing to discover new things on top of that. The flexibility of seeing things through different eyes can be used down the line as a way for education to end poverty.
While the main emphasis on play as education in action is usually in preschool, it’s important to make sure that as kids get older, they don’t lose that desire to see the world differently through the open-ended nature of play. Good on Fateh’s second grade teacher to keep this essential creative teaching method of keeping play in most advanced levels of teaching to make kids empowered by education.
What Kind of Things Do You Like to Make?
“I like to make paper crafts. I like to make paintings.”
Making crafts and paintings is in the similar realm of play, like being a cat, because it allows kids to work with their hands and enjoy being creative. Introducing paper crafts and painting in school allows for more education in action outside of school since the kids enjoy it so much. Something as simple as that can keep their brains engaged in summer break and keep the learning going.
A great way to get involved even if you’re not a teacher is to provide fun and safe places and tools for kids to work, play, and inspire their creativity with their hands. While it may not be the technology for education that NARA Education focuses on, we still believe that it is a very important component to a full education.

We hope you enjoyed finding out some of Fateh’s favorite things about school and what he really cares about. I really loved learning about all of his different interests from math to nature to painting which shows how well rounded he is. He can be fully empowered by education and become one of the few multifaceted thinkers and doers that our modern global world needs so much today.

Ilona is a writer focused on Old Norse Mythology, drawing from her Hungarian, Pakistani, and Texan roots. She holds a BA in Dramaturgy and Theatre History from NYU, an MS in Religion and Literature from the University of Edinburgh, and is currently working on her PhD. After working in theatre, dance, finance, and academia, her work blends myth, culture, and storytelling across borders.
